Castaway to Couture Winners
Congratulations to the winners of the 2017 Castaway to Couture competition
...and thank-you to all those who participated. We received 36 very impressive entries this year, making it difficult for the judges to decide the winners. Nearly 900 people voted for viewers' choice!
For those not familiar with the format of this competition, the focus is on sustainability, re-fashioning & recycling. Entrants could use up to three garments to create a single garment, using as much of the original items as possible. Additional materials such as lining and trims was allowed but at least 90% of the finished product was to come from the original garment(s).
The creativity of entries was inspiring. If you have not already viewed the gallery, take a minute to browse through all the entries. Every one was a winner!
Let's begin with the eight finalists chosen by the judges.
