Martyn is both a tailor and a commercial pattern maker. He has years of experience in both tertiary and community textile education and has written many articles for magazines around the world. Originally trade trained, he furthered his experience and education overseas and then returned to open his own business and to teach at Massey University in Wellington, NZ. Having a long association with both sewing machine and fashion pattern companies, he moved to Australia to join KwikSew Patterns as their General Manager and to oversee the eventual purchase by McCalls Vogue. Martyn still teaches a few workshops but has slightly pivoted his focus towards the digital world of machine embroidery, and is a Creative Technician at Sweet Pea Machine Embroidery. Fabric and thread is still a daily fix and garment making still a high priority.
