SKILL LEVEL - confident beginner and beyond

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION - This workshop is stacked full of techniques.

  • perfecting the fit
  • correct application of interfacing
  • perfecting collars, including turning sharp corners
  • professional sleeve setting
  • correct button placement

Rita will contact participants prior to the workshop to discuss making a toile in the appropriate size.  She will have a range of interfacings on sale for students to buy at the workshop.

    KIT CONTENTS (provided by tutor):

    • all supplies required to make samples

    STUDENT SUPPLY LIST:

    • pattern for shirt*
    • fabric for shirt
    • matching thread
    • buttons
    • personal sewing kit

    *Pattern suggestions - V8689, V8772, V9029, Simplicity 8416.  Students may choose another pattern if it includes the following design features.

    • collar and collar band
    • bust dart or princess seams
    • set-in sleeves, avoiding dropped shoulders
    • sleeve finish - cuff, band or hem
    • button front
    • yoke (optional)
